I realize Amanda wasn't going to win, but I would liked to have seen her given more stage time. Maybe she didn't have the greatest voice, but she was a good performer. It seems like every year there's a cool rocker chick with a decent voice who gets voted off, and some boring vanilla prom queen gets to stick around for a few more rounds only to end up in the 'who is she?' pile a week or so later anyway. I don't get it.

Amanda definitely should not have gone home before her, but then I think there are a lot of people who should not have gone home before her. But it does seem every year there is that one person who inexplicably survives week after week, like a cockroach.
I am also surprised Carly hit the bottom 3. Granted, I didn't like her performance, but she seems to have a strong fan base and usually dedicated fans overlook weak performances (e.g. David A.). I guess her fan base isn't as strong as I suspected. And whether its right or wrong, she may have alienated some voters by her "7." I personally don't care what a person does if it doesn't hurt me or my loved ones, but i can imagine there is a certain, less tolerant, section of the voting public that may be turned off and actually not vote for her because of it. Or maybe it was just because people thought it was a bad performance. Who knows! -

The reason that Kristy Lee Cook is still in the competition is that she is the Vote for the Worst pick this year. Remember them? Does the name Sanjaya sound familiar? Yep, Kristy's got that vote this year. Though I can't imagine she'll have much more staying power. She'll probably manage to knock out Sayesha and either Jason or Michael, but she won't make it to the top.

I doubt any VFTW pick will ever reach the celebrity status of Sanjaya. Sanjaya and his hair took on an audience of their own. But there is definitely some power to the VFTW vote...at least enough to keep Kristy around for now.

Personally, I'm not offended by any comments here. I don't offend that easily. I am however a bit confused as to how something as trivial as American Idol would prompt such venom and hostility in someone. It doesn't offend me, but I do find it hugely distasteful. I find all forms of hatred distasteful. Historically this tribe has been pretty light and troll-free, and I prefer it that way. After all, it's only AI - so for crying out loud, load a bowl and relax. I am hopeful that most discussions here don't go the path that some of the comments in this thread have. -
