David C should sing Baby I'm Amazed..That'd be amazing..

I think David A should sing Something..I bet it would be beautiful..I hated Kat McPhee's version..

And if Kristy has do sing country she can sing I've Just Seen A Face..

Every time I hear about a Beatles anything the first thought that comes to mind is "what financial gain is driving the decision to use Beatles music?". I never, ever, actually think about the music itself.

If I never hear another Beatles song again it wouldn't be too soon.

Ok well having just finished watching Beatles part deux, here are my thoughts:

I agree with Simon it was a mistake to do two weeks of Beatles. The show was overall a letdown from last week and realisically, what woud one expect? Most of them did fantastic and being asked to basically perform from the same song book again recast them into similar roles. I don't know, but it just seems to me they should've been given fresh stomping ground.

Next, I like the Beatles, not the biggest fan by any means, but I have some greatest hits cds. So, i figured i would know most of the songs performed. I feel like I knew at most half of them between this week and last. So it makes me wonder, do I just not know a lot of well-known Beatles tunes or are the contestants selecting a lot of lesser known ditties. If its the former, then my bad. But if its the latter, then I don't understand why the contestants wouldn't perform more widely known tunes, which tend to better connect with the audience.

Ok on to the performances. Who went first?

Oh yeah, Amanda. I think she was one of the best of the night...fun, easy-going, good stage presence. I dug it.

Kristy - ugh, sweet girl, but ugh. Please go home. Didn't know the song.

David A. - I think he did very well this week - possibly best of night. He redeemed himself well.

Brooke - Way off her game. And the sunshine dress was overkill in my opinion. She was definitely awkward tonight. Also, my husband and I were commenting on how much she interupts the judges. I know she is "miss sunshine" and can do no wrong, but it comes off as rude.

Michael - I agreed with Simon that too much song condensed into 1:40 mins and it didnt work. I like him (and love the song), but that performance was all over the place. Not good, dog. Also, he seemed to lose his voice at once point.

David C. - He is one of my faves, and he keeps trying to mix it up. Solid performance, although I think he is a little cocky, at least that is my feeling based on his post-performance interviews. That is slightly disarming to me.

Carly - Blackbird. Sparrow. Raven. Whatever. I didn't know the song and I thought the performance was actually a little scary. Even scarier, the 7 she tattooed on her finger. Something ain't right with that girl imo.

Jason - He is so endearing; I can't help it. I smile whenever I see and hear him. But he is sounding repetitive and I would really like to see him bust out of his comfort zone and do something new.

Syesha - I didn't think it was incredible either - but within the scheme of a relatively disappointing night, I think she was one of the better performances.

Chikeze - A bit of a reprise of last week as well with the bluegrass and the slow and faster portions. I actually kinda liked the harmonica and the up-tempo part...it was fun. And I can't really blame Chik (or any of the contestants) for reprises considering AI did a reprise of last week. Again, what were they thinking? Didn't know this song....this is 3 so far.

Ramiele - Where oh where has her star gone? B/c in week one of the top 24 she blew it ot and she was my early female fave. Now she is next on my list to get the boot after Krusty. Boy she has lost her mojo. Also didn't know this song. 4/11. So is it me or are these obscure tunes, and if yes, why why why do them when there are so many more widely known songs available that people can relate to?? I was hoping for Lucy/Diamonds or Eggman or things of that sort.

I hope Kristy goes home. Bottom 3 prediction: Kristy, Ramielle and Michael.

I'm in a different zone as i grew up with the beatles and I thought tonight was overkill. C'mon folks there are so many more singable songs out there.

I thought Amanda was awful, frankly. She shrieked it out and murdered the poor song. Sorry, I think she's a dive bar singer at best.

My fave of the night was Dave C. I think Dave A looks like Micky Mouse so i'm alway distracted. I love Jason C and he looks lit everytime he sings...Carly Smithson...or the "Anointed One" just frickin' scares me and I hated her version of Blackbird...

I think that KKKristy will be goi home tomorrow.

I agree, it's time for Kristy to pack her bags-----I didn't like Amanda either. Yes it was rock'n but----it's the same old same old and her same old isn't that great~! I adore Jason Castro, he has such quiet unassuming way about him, but he's definitely repetitive, yet I'm thinking he'll be there for a while because of his charm. I'm disappointed in Michael Johns, I really thought he might be it~! I however enjoyed Carly's "Black Bird", but then I can be a little out there, and my S.O. hated it. Which I think via the majority most won't care for it.

David Cook, I still don't like his hair, but yeah he's good!

I agree with Simon about Amanda, except for one thing.........I'm she's not in danger of getting boring for me, I'm ALREADY bored by her. And ballads may be boring to her, but that could be because she wouldn't be able to cover her lack of a voice by shouting. I believe either her (though I think she may be this year's Sanjaya and stick around longer than needed) of Kristy Lee should go home.

I'll watch the last 5 minutes of the results show, as it's usually just filled with fluff and I can do without seeing Kelly Pickler

Agreed last nights show was WEAK. Some of you are showing your age though, not recognizing some of those songs ;-) I'm not the biggest Carly fan but Blackbird is one of my all time favorite Beatles tunes, ditto hear comes the sun which Brooke kind of butchered with her "awkward" dancing. As for Chickizie, had he done I've Just Seen A Face all BLUEGRASS he would have rocked it. Lots of other bluegrass jambands (String Cheese Incident and Hot Buttered Rum String Band) have covered this song in a bluegrass style and it always kicks ass.

              Bye Bye Kristy.

i know, seriously, though i think it helped that my parents had every beatles album playing in heavy rotation for most of my formative years.

my kids AND my grandkids LOVE the Beatles...

Personally, I so would have rather that AI never sang the Beatles...hate to hear songs so universally loved so butchered...

                        BEATLES NIGHT 2:

1 - Amanda Overmeyer: I thought it was her best perormance so far. I like that she’ll settle for selling out a small town dive bar, because everything she receives above that is gravy. She was in much better spirits, and now has a signature move - the crouch with hands on thighs. She’s certainly not the best singer but it was one of the most rockin performances Ive seen on the show.

2 - Kristy Lee Cook: Nice girl, but I wouldnt place her in the top ten.

                        3. David Archuleta: Back to his old young self. If Idol was the NFL, David A would be the Patriots. As in: a team you cant fault because theyre so good, but since they keep beating your teams you have to hate em anyway. That said, I think I can finally pinpoint what I dont like about his style: he fills every available space in a song with vocals. Every note is drawn out as much as possible. It’s like the empty space around a picture - theres nothing there, but it works to enhance what it frames. He seems afraid of the empty space.

                        4. Brooke White: I agree with Simon, she shouldve been the one to sing yesterday. I too noticed her wanting to cut off the judges. She was being dismissive of his comments while simultaneuosly asking for them. If I was Simon, I would have said “Well I HOPE what we say is OK with you, because youre gonna hear it one way or another.”

                        5. Michael Johns: I really want to like him more than I can let myself, because I like his sound & the way he does his thing, its just that his performances have never been more than above average at best for me. This time the arrangement was partly to blame.

                        6. David Cook - Three great weeks in a row. He has his sound down. But the vocorder added nothing, save to make me pine for Frampton. It still irks me that he sticks with his own sound & the judges like it, but Amanda gets dinged every time she does the same. They should just admit that they just plain dont like her. As for David Cook, the random pokes at his combover bug me a bit too. Regardless of your feelings on the combover, at least its not a fake toupe, & it IS the coolest looking combover Ive ever seen. He found a way to rock it!

                        7. Carly Smithson: I thought it was a very nicely done rendition and very professional performance. I dont get Simons comments about her at all. The 7 tat is a little scary, but she’s obviously addicted to tats to some degree. I say let the girl express herself how she wants!

                        8. Jason Castro: How far can he ride his charm? Apparently, nearly all the way! Its almost like, what would happen if Goofy were born unto the Partridge Family? ...I thought it was an awesome song choice until he started singing, when it all became too sickly sweet. He just doesnt know what to do with himself without his guitar. The whole strolling thing with the collar & the sleeves just did not work. And then the kicker - during a short transition in the song, he passed the time by starting to do calisthenics! I couldnt stop laughing for several minutes afterward.

                        9. Syesha Mercado: A decent job, but the best part was in her delivery. She sung it like she was shooting the music video. She totally played the part of the song. But I didnt care for the arrangement.

                        10. Chikeze: He continues to surprise, but I only liked about half of the song, mostly the faster parts.

                        11. Ramiele: I still dont get why she sounded so good in the preliminaries but continues to hit below the mark in the finals. She should be thanking Kristy for allowing her to stay another week.

David Cook has a combover---Hmm, color me surprised, I honestly didn't realize that~! I suppose for a comb over it does look good, but I still tihnk I'd like it better--shaved or at least shorter, but then it really doesn't make a rat's ass difference if I like his combover or not. ;-(
