Re: Oh Paula...
Wed, April 30, 2008 - 9:15 AMTalk about HILARIOUS! Poor Paulo .. get off the junk ;-)
Maybe both Brooke AND Jason can go cause Brooke was almost unlistenable last night and Jason's checked out all together. -

Re: Oh Paula...
Wed, April 30, 2008 - 9:42 AMJason does seem to have checked out. I know he has this laid back vibe about him in general, but he comes off as completely ambivalent about going or staying at this point.
I think Syesha is trying hard and improving and I think the reason Simon told her she was in trouble was to help her by galvanizing her voting bloc. She came on late, but at this point, she has outperformed Brooke and Jason 2 weeks running.
I like Neil Diamond tunes a lot, but found last night's show to be pretty dull, other than the Paula fiasco. That women is out of control. I don't know how many more seasons of AI are planned, but they might want to reconsider moving forward with her. Unless of course the producers like her missteps b/c they create buzz. But this was a pretty big misstep.

Re: Oh Paula...
Wed, April 30, 2008 - 9:49 AMBrooke and Jason will be bottom two. It really doesn't matter which one goes this week, because the other one will go next week.
Remaining... David C, David A and Syesha.
Syesha is going to give them a run for their money. She is in it to win it, and I'd like to see her be one of the top 2.
David A will get his teenybopper votes, but really, he's pretty schmarmy and dull, isn't he?
David C is awesome, but if he wants to lock in his top spot, he needs to keep delivering unique compositions and win over David A's little girl vote. He's gotta be the 'sexy rocker dude'. Maybe a little more hair mousse will help. -

Re: Oh Paula...
Wed, April 30, 2008 - 10:52 AMBrooke and Jason SHOULD be in the bottom two... they SHOULD have been last week but weren't. At this stage I really don't think people are voting for who did best, they're voting for who they LIKE best.
Syesha has been in the bottom 3/2 almost as often as Kristy Lee Cook was... she clearly doesn't have the fan base. I predict that she will be in the bottom 2 tonight and will probably go home. Not saying that she should... just saying that she could. She will not make it to the top 2... -

Re: Oh Paula...
Wed, April 30, 2008 - 1:12 PMI agree with that assessment Lord J. And while Syesha may not deserve to go home tonight, she also does not deserve to make top 2. While at this point she is outperforming Brooke and Jason, for the first half of the top 12, she was inferior to them and she probably should've gone in Michael Johns's place. -

Re: Oh Paula...
Thu, May 1, 2008 - 10:49 AMPaula was obviously confused because Ryan kept saying they were going to the judges AFTER the contestants sang BOTH their songs.
I've seen a THS on Paula and it revealed that she has a very painful nerve disorder in her neck and in addition to several surgeries, she is on meds for it, but geez, is it really that hard to follow a change in the rules/format?
They better just stick to what Paula knows...it's much too hard for her to form coherent judgements by having to write them down so quickly. Was Simon trying to bail her out or was that sarcastic (i can't believe your so dumb) help?

Re: Oh Paula...
Thu, May 1, 2008 - 10:55 AMI apparently haven't taken a sip of the David C kool-aid. I like him, but each week he gets RAVES!!., even when he is just ok. (IMO) Tuesday night, his 2nd song choice, I didn't really like until he kicked it in, but the soft, slow start in the beginning.....I was not that impressed.
I think he is being compared to Chris Daughtry, as the rocker choice this year, but IMHO Chris Daughtry had a much better voice and exited much sooner than he should have.
I still think it will come down to the 2 David's and a battle between the young adult rock fans and the young adult/teenage girls.
BTW.........I LOVE Neil Diamond, but didn't particularly enjoy anyone's version of his songs. -

Ryan Seacrest Defends Paula Abdul
May 1, 2008
Ryan Seacrest came to the defense of Paula Abdul Wednesday during American Idol’s live results show.
Addressing Tuesday’s broadcast when Paula critiqued Jason Castro’s second song before he performed it, Ryan spoke up to put an end to gossip about his costar. (Paula defended herself earlier, calling the awkward moment an “honest mistake” on Ryan’s KIIS-FM radio show.)
“Last night the judges were thrown a curve ball on the air, which is just part of a live show,” Ryan said from the stage while a nervous-looking Paula watched from the judges’ panel. “But it sparked a lot of gossip about Paula. And I read some of this online this morning and just for the record, the rumors — they’re not true. She’s part of our family and we love her.”
Paula looked touched as the audience clapped and both Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell gave her a kiss on the cheek, which prompted Ryan to joke, “I think Simon still wants to hook up with her.”

Fri, May 2, 2008 - 8:12 AMI think Simon still wants to hook up with her.”
That's what my guy says too...I'm like Really? Granted she is very attractive, but she so out to lunch, I just thought Simon wouldn't go for that. But---ahhh what can I say, I felt sort of sorry for Paula and I'm happy they came to her defense, so yes just shoot me I'm a bleeding heart.
As for Jason staying and Brooke leaving, not that Brooke has done that great lately, but good grief as much as I like Jason, this kid has definitely phoned it in with a faulty transmitter. I mean it's good not to care too much, but damn...? He reminds me of a young John Travolta and he's just so damn cute, but his originality is quickly become So-Soo not there. And if he'sone of the top three-----Umm, No, but that's American IDOL.
I figure David A will win and that's good, but David C will be more successful as a recording artist, and David B.........He's probably singing as he strips and getting good tips. Uh......and YES, I know there really wasn't a David B, was there? -

Re: Oh Paula...
Fri, May 2, 2008 - 8:46 AMI think it was David H. :)
I don't think Simon has any interest in Paula other than friendship and even that I find highly doubtful. It seems to me he perceives her as a little lost puppy dog that is fun to play with and take care of at times, but I also think he would quickly get fed up. I bet he prefers a woman who needs less coddling.
As for David A vs. David C., I much prefer Cook but hope Arch wins only b/c I rather see Cook get a record deal on his own terms and have more creative control. Let Arch be the AI puppet; Cook will do better on his own at this point.
Looking forward to Rock week...shame Michael Johns isn't here for this show, but Cook should rock it (no pun intended). Actually, I think Arch, Syesha and Jason could be disasters this week as none of them have much rock vibe. I wouldn't be surprised if Arch and Sy picked rock ballads but they perform twice, so maybe they will be forced to do a fast song.
Also, I am surprised Syesha is the last female standing. Never would've predicted that.
